Mr. Robert Turner, II

Rob Turner has served as a founding Councilman for the City of Stonecrest, Georgia for the past six years. In this role, he established and currently chairs the Stonecrest Film and Entertainment Commission, which has been instrumental in attracting, retaining, and partnering with film, television, music, and digital media companies. Through this initiative, Rob has created pathways for training, internships, business development, and community events—empowering students, residents, stakeholders, and businesses throughout Stonecrest and DeKalb County.

Rob and his wife, Vickie, founded The Augustine Preparatory Academy of Atlanta, a private, independent Christian school serving preschool through 8th grade in DeKalb County. As Chancellor for nine years, Rob provided strategic leadership and oversight for the school’s operations, budget, and governance.

A dedicated community advocate and family man, Rob has served as a PTA president, Finance and Fundraising Chair, GED instructor, and athletic coach for local youth leagues. His spiritual leadership includes service as a deacon, covenant community leader, and pastor.

He is a proud charter member of the Theta Eta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and a founding board member of Grio’s Fire Theater Ensemble. Together, Rob and Vickie host the nationally broadcast weekly radio show “Let’s Talk About It with The Turners” on WAOK, where they engage listeners in meaningful conversations on community, culture, and current events.

Rob holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications and a Master’s Degree in Radio, Television, and Film. He and Vickie are the proud parents of three adult children and the joyful grandparents of six wonderful grandchildren.

Mrs. Vickie B. Turner

Vickie B. Turner is a seasoned educator, progressive thought leader, and passionate advocate for educational parity. She holds a Master of Education in Post-Secondary Education, a Bachelor of Science in Child and Family Counseling, and has completed executive coursework at Harvard Kennedy School.

Vickie began her career in 1991 as a kindergarten teacher and rose to become Headmaster of a preschool-9 school. In 2005, she and her husband, Robert, founded a private school, where she served as Headmaster until 2014. That year, she transitioned into public service, winning a seat on the DeKalb County Board of Education. She has since served as both Vice Chair and Chair, leading governance efforts and overseeing a $1.2 billion budget and the hiring and supervision of the Superintendent.

DeKalb County School District serves 94,000 students, 73% of whom come from underserved communities. Vickie remains deeply committed to equitable education and legislative advocacy. She regularly engages with state leaders, including the Governor’s office, to champion the interests of students and staff.

Her visionary leadership has earned her numerous honors, including the Hidden Figures Award, the National Women Empowerment in Ministry Leadership Award, and the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award from President Joe Biden. She’s also received proclamations from federal, state, and local leaders.

A graduate of Leadership DeKalb (Class of 2017), Vickie is a trusted advisor known for her strategic insight, empathy, and results-driven guidance. She is also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She and Robert are proud parents of three adult children and doting grandparents to six beloved grandchildren.
